The story is, we had nothing. Zero. We came here with five suitcases. And my grandma got hit by a bus. She was in a coma in Germany, actually, during the transition to the United States. So we were just in true despair. We didn't have anything to our name. We didn't speak English. I was actually the first one in my family to learn English. So I looked for a way out for my family. A lot of people don't take the second chances they're given. My family was given a second chance by coming to the United States after everything that happened in the Balkans. So I worked 18 hours a day. I still do to this day. I was waiting tables, you name it.
