Robert Nikic on gated brands: why sellers who skip Amazon's authorization step get suspended for trademark infringement.
Watch the full interviewTranscript
Remember, not everyone can just sell these products. They're gated is what it's called. It's an industry term. So you go ahead and you want to sell Crest, you go select Crest. It's not gonna actually let you sell that product. It's gonna ask you to upload authorization proof as to whether you can sell it or not. The gurus, what they're doing is they're looking to see where they might get lucky. They might find a product that doesn't require that, right? And it winds up happening a few months later, just gets suspended, the account gets taken down, because what are they doing? Trademark infringement. These big companies protect their IP.
