What CBS's Great Day Live showed about Robert Nikic

Segment summary

Great Day Live is the lifestyle and local-business show on WTSP, the CBS station serving Tampa Bay. The segment gave viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the company Robert founded and ran as CEO, rather than a polished pitch. The focus was the work itself: how the operation ran day to day and who did it.

Why a local station cared

The hook for the station was growth. The company had been named to the Inc. 5000, the annual list of America's fastest-growing private companies, debuting at #418 and later climbing to #35. For a morning audience, the story was simple: a small team, built from scratch, had grown fast enough to land on a national list.

What viewers took away

Robert used the time to talk about the people behind the numbers. A ranking is a result, he explained, and the result came from a team doing the unglamorous parts well: answering sellers, fixing problems, shipping on time. That theme, people first, runs through most of his later coverage, including the Forbes piece on how he rewarded staff who stayed through a setback.

In Robert's words

When I came to this country as a refugee from the Balkans, my family started over with nothing, so being on a local TV show still felt strange. I wanted people to see the inside of the business, not a highlight reel. Most of what got us onto the Inc. 5000, first at #418 and then at #35, happened in rooms nobody films. I'd failed at startups as a teenager and worked 18-hour shifts before any of this, and we built the company without outside investors. In 2026 I stepped away to work on SDG 8 & 9, because I want the next person to have an easier start than I did.

Where it led

The CBS segment captured a moment when the company was proving a small team could compete nationally. What Robert learned building it, that the hardest part of starting is often everything before the first sale, now shapes his policy work. Under SDG 8.3 he focuses on cutting registration steps, paperwork, fees and delays, so a first-time founder in Tampa or anywhere else spends their energy on customers rather than forms.

Then

Then, he showed what a small team could build.

Now

Now, he works on SDG 8.3, so the next founder faces fewer barriers to start.
